TEXT MILJA TERÄVÄINEN
In 2019, Milja Teräväinen found herself volunteering in the project team of Dare to Learn. A year later she is running the program and production of the same festival. This is her story.
Continuous learning has always been a passion of mine. Especially in today’s world, learning is inevitable - you face it almost everywhere. Last year, I wanted to challenge myself and learn more with others as enthusiastic about the subject. Challenging traditional ways of viewing learning and creating unique learning experiences were few of the key factors that drew me to the world of Dare to Learn. And eventually led me to the program team in 2019.
So what was the work really like? Our program team had seven members in addition to our inspirational team leader. Each of us had our own area of responsibility and together we built the program for the event. Everyone welcomed me to the team and as months passed by, our cooperation got better and better. I could always count on my team’s support when needed. We met approximately once a week for two-hour meetings and in addition I worked independently around 2-5 hours a week. Some weeks were pretty quiet and others quite busy from meetings with the workshop hosts to sending info letters and making sure everyone had all the information they needed. But the good thing was that the schedule was mine to plan and easy to work around other responsibilities.
The recruitment to project team 2020 is open until 25.2. - apply now!
