Dare to Learn 2020 is organized on September 16th-17th at Korjaamo Culture Factory in Helsinki.

Wearing your very own D-shirt, you will get to learn by doing in a supportive environment. You will also be properly trained to your role.
We offer you a spectacular possibility to experience, meet cool new people and show off your talent. At the event, you’ll have food, an insurance and a chance to enjoy the program in your free time. After the event and the official after party are over, there’s still the amazing Volunteer After Party awaiting! You’ll also get a Volunteer Certificate from the amazing work you’ve done, including the trainings you’ve participated in. You don’t need to fear making mistakes with us. The only fail unaccepted is a failure not to learn from mistakes! We truly appreciate our volunteers and make sure it shows. |
Desire to learn. Daring attitude. Courage to take a chance.
A will to solve problems, customer service orientation and communication skills take you a long way, but we will require nothing that we can’t teach you or help out with. Our working language is English, so you do need to have good written and spoken English. We also expect basic reliability and commitment from our volunteers. Depending on your role, the volunteer posts can take a few hours a week or need your attention mostly during the event. July will be more quiet nonetheless. There will be inductions, trainings and meetings for different Teams and Groups that may require participation. Make sure you are available during the event 19-20.2019. All volunteers will take part in the building and tear down of the event. |

Speakers Hosts
You are the key in making the experience of the speakers enjoyable You know who they are, when and where they come from, what they need for their show, and how they leave the venue. You hold their hand if they’re suffering from stage fright, smile and give them a little nudge to move to the stage in cooperation with the Stage Hosts. Workshops Hosts & Facilitators
You organise and facilitate workshops in cooperation with the partners. This means anything from having pens and papers in place to leading meaningful and educational discussions between participants at the workshops. You will receive a facilitation training. Volunteer Experience
You are be responsible for the amazing volunteer experience at Dare to Learn! You will be helping out in organizing the trainings and other meetings, thanking and refreshing volunteers at the event, collecting their feedback regularly, and host the Volunteer After Party! Your job consist of planning things ahead and working when other volunteers are not. You have a massive importance in the wellbeing of our volunteers. |
Info & Event Guides
You take care of the smooth participant experience at the event. You know everything about anything the participants might want to know, guide them to the correct locations, collect feedback and call the taxi. When a big group of international guests needs a contact person, that just might be you. Without you all is lost! You will receive a participant experience training. Stage Hosts
You are responsible for the timing and correct content on the stages. You know who’s coming next, what they do and what they need, have the mics ready and seats neatly organized. You work with the Program Team, Speakers Hosts and the technicians of the venue. Power Group
As a Power Group member you don’t have a specific role beforehand but help other Groups or Teams when there’s a problem or a shortage of helpful hands. Expect anything in this role! Fast thinking, problem solving skills and a cool head is a must in this post. You get to participate in every training there is. |

Startups & Demo Area
You get to take care of the startups and other partners in the field of EdTech or LearnTech coming to the event and help building and organizing the Demo Area. Side Events
As a Side Events volunteer, you are part of the team organizing and coordinating the side events including the Official After Party! Last year there were about 20 side events, and this year there might be even more! |
Networking & Meeting Area
You make meetings at the event as easy as possible while creating encounter-friendly atmosphere. You also help running the Meeting Area and organize new concepts for matchmaking! |
MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

Social Media
You help share the details and highlights of Dare to Learn through all of our major social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. Be ready to go Live on Facebook, take pictures and videos, make Instagram stories, communicate through Tweets and much more! Want to go a step further? In this position, you are also able to unleash your creativity and make your very own social media projects during the event Photographers
Very much linked to the social media team, your role is to provide our social media team and partners with real-time visual content (= pictures and potentially videos) to share in their channels. This is a chance for anyone interested in photography to try it out in a more professional setting. So, instead of reaching out to professional photographers to come and work for us for free (let's put it out there, this happens too often), we call for those simply curious to have a couple days of fun and take a few pictures on the side. |
Media Hosts
Interested in PR or media relations? Or maybe you are just curious to be in contact with both nations and international media press? This one's for you! As a media host, you will help media representatives in all kinds of situations from answering their questions to figuring stuff out for them. This way you support our Head of Marketing & Comms Anni with the overall press relations and with other running matters that have anything to do with the media. |

The groups will be lead by one or more Group Leaders, and the size of the groups may vary from five to dozens. If you wish to apply to the same post with a friend, mention it in the given space in the application.
Remember that there’s only one first impression to give, so put a little effort in filling the form. You want us screaming “yee!” when we see your application, and Group Leaders fighting who gets you in their group, right? ;) Take some time and use the given space.
The more detailed dietary limitations you inform us, the better, but please inform only your actual daily diet and real allergies, so that we may provide the best possible catering for everyone. For example “vegetarian” might mean a lot from not eating four legged animals to vegan.
The application period is 3.6.-31.7.2019. We’ll start contacting applicants right away and continue over the summer.

The information you provide through the volunteer application will be visible to the Head of Community, Tytti Peltola and other relevant Team Leaders. If you are not selected, your information will not be deleted immediately incase we still need to contact you. If you later wish your details to be removed, they will be deleted in two weeks after the notice. To have the information deleted contact the Head of Community, tytti.peltola@daretolearn.fi. The volunteer applications will be deleted in any case by the end of the year.
If you are selected, your contact details are shared with the core Team of Dare to Learn 2019, your own group and other volunteers when necessary.
Your dietary information will be shared to the people in charge of the caterings at the meetings and at the event with no details to connect to you, unless it’s compulsory to secure your safety. We try our best to provide catering fit for everyone, but this may not be achieved completely. If you have severe or multiple difficult allergies etc. please be aware that we may not be able to take everything in count when catering for dozens of people, as we are not professionals. Your other medical details you provide us will not be shared without your further consent.
